Mirroring in Vue

The Mirror scripts for Vue are very powerful and help greatly in creating symmetrically accurate models. Here's how they work.

Mirror X axis takes the currently selected objects and creates mirrored copies of them about the X axis, which in the Top view is Right to Left or Left to Right. It mirrors the objects around the current center of the view. This is very powerful as you can easily define the center of a view by clicking on the Frame All Selected Objects button. This sets your viewport center to the center of the selected object(s). An issue is the default Vue behavior is to automatically center objects when they are selected via the world browser. This will cause problems as you typically want to mirror objects about ANOTHER object's center, not it's own.

So, In order for this to work best, you need to go into the Vue-6 Options (File->Options) and uncheck the checkbox "Center views on objects selected in world browser."

For instance, say you're building a car and you have both right front and back tires in place and wish to mirror them to the left. You first select the car (minus the tires) and click the Frame All Selected Objects button. This sets your viewport center to the center of the car. Now you can zoom out a couple of times (pressing the Zoom Out button which keeps the view center the same) and select the right tires and press the Mirror X axis button and it will copy and mirror them to the Left. There is a separate Mirror button for each axis.

The Mirror scripts works with Groups as well as most rotated objects.
