About VueTools

"I've been waiting for something like VueTools for a very long time. VueTools totally changes the way I create my scenes. I already can't imagine how I worked before without it."
— Walther Beck  aka "Wabe"

What is it?

VueTools™ is a collection of Vue® specific Python scripts which provide extended functionality for Vue. They are designed to work with Vue-6 Infinite, on both Mac and Windows platforms. Included with VueTools is Altuit's VueToolbar, which allows for button access to any of the tools. It can also be used to launch other third party Vue python scripts as well!

There are three main components to VueTools: VueTools Manager, the VueToolbar, and the VueTools themselves. The VueTools Manager is used to install and update your VueTools.  Each VueTool is an individual Python script which runs inside of Vue to provide various modelling and scene functions. All VueTools can be run with or without the VueToolbar.

How does it work?

There are a number of different VueTools which do various things. For instance, you can mirror an object about an existing axis. Or you can move an object to the center of a viewport. The most powerful VueTools modify existing Vue primitives without destroying the original object. This is done via different techniques including boolean subtraction, adding and deleting of other primitives and grouping the object.

The Glass Table picture (click on it to view larger) is an example of an object modelled completely with VueTools within Vue. Thre are a number of different tools used to create the different parts of the table. It was built in less than 15 minutes.

The extreme accuracy of the object creation scripts allow for perfect modelling and rendering at super high resolution. You can of course alway deprecate any of the models to polygons using the standard Bake to Polygons feature. Each Modelling VueTool has a number of custom settings which create a variety of effects on the original primitive. Please see the Online Manual for a list of the effects.
